Philippines Earthquake Emergency

Enfants d’Asie alongside disaster-affected families in Cebu.

On October 3 2025, a 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck the island of Cebu in the Philippines, causing over 70 deaths and significant material damage, leaving hundreds of families in extreme hardship.

In response to this disaster, Children Of Asia immediately mobilised to help the children and families supported by the association in the region. Thanks to the responsiveness of our local teams, around one hundred families have already received emergency aid.

Recently, a powerful typhoon, KALMAEGI, also hit Cebu. In the city, severe flooding devastated several neighborhoods, including downtown and Ermita, where we operate. We mourn more than 250 deaths and are providing aid to the many affected families.

From the first days following the earthquake, our teams on the ground conducted a needs assessment and distributed emergency kits to address the most urgent requirements.

Each kit contained:

  • 10 kg of rice
  • 10 liters of drinking water
  • 6 small cans and 1 large can of food
  • 2 packs of noodles
  • 1 large pack of biscuits
  • 2 antibacterial soaps
  • 1 pack of sanitary pads
  • Activity sheets and pencils for primary school children

These kits enabled families to manage during the initial days of the emergency, while waiting for access to water, food, and local infrastructure to be restored.

Testimony of our local team

“An earthquake like the one experienced by the roughly one hundred families (more than 500 people) we support in the northern part of Cebu Island is not simply a few tens of seconds of terror, destroyed buildings, and damaged roads. It is also the fear of returning to homes that may not withstand the more than 7,000 aftershocks. It is reliving, with every major aftershock, the fear of an even greater catastrophe. It is having to sleep outside in the rain, losing access to water and electricity, having to interrupt work and classes, and not earning any money while already living day to day…
This is what Children Of Asia humbly seeks to address, by distributing more than 4 tons of emergency aid from the first day after the earthquake until September 9, and by showing its support to each of the families we assist.”

— André, Deputy Director of Enfants d’Asie in the Philippines

Solidarity is essential to continue providing aid.

The needs remain considerable: many families have lost their homes. Numerous school facilities have been damaged and children are at risk of being taken out of school. Children Of Asia wishes to continue its emergency response and support families in rebuilding their lives and returning to school.

To do this, we are appealing to your generosity.
Every donation, no matter how small, provides concrete help to affected families.
