Enfants d'Asie, des avenirs à construire !

Together for equality of chances !

in Southeast Asia

Enfants d’Asie has been working in Southeast Asia for 35 years to support children in vulnerable situations. Among children in vulnerable situations, girls and young women face numerous additional inequalities.

To ensure equal opportunities for girls, we adapt our programs to the four countries where we operate: Laos, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Cambodia. Young girls face discrimination that prevents them from accessing education and continuing their studies. They are subject, among other things, to poverty, forced labor, early marriage, and early pregnancies.

Our actions in favor of equal opportunities

In Cambodia, 30 girls from disadvantaged backgrounds and living in precarious conditions were supported. Most have parents with irregular jobs, earning unstable and often insufficient incomes to cover all the household and children’s needs. They received scholarships to cover school-related expenses. Food assistance was also provided. Social workers regularly met with them.

In Laos, to improve the living and schooling conditions of young girls from ethnic minorities and vulnerable families, the girls’ dormitory at Namkhong College was renovated. These renovations provide a safer environment, promoting better learning conditions and personal development.

In the Philippines, in 2024, our commitment to vulnerable girls remained a priority. Pour prévenir le décrochage scolaire, elles ont été accompagnées tout au long de l’année grâce à un appui financier et une aide alimentaire. The older girls participated in orientation sessions and had the opportunity to meet professionals and students to better plan their academic and career paths.

In Vietnam, thanks to the IFI campaign, 45 young girls were able to benefit from the activities of the Women’s Promotion program They thus received scholarships and psychosocial support.

An ongoing need

Equal opportunities are a major issue in Southeast Asia, and there is still much work to be done. Tous ces projets permettront de construire peu à peu un terrain propice pour surmonter les obstacles.
